Jones Sports eyebolts are drop-forged and hot-dip galvanized. Drop-forged eyebolts have a higher tensile strength, making them stronger and less likely to fracture than formed eyebolts. What’s the difference between hot-dip galvanized and electroplated galvanized? Most eyebolts sold are electroplated, which is less expensive to manufacture but has a much thinner coating. Electroplated eyebolts are not suitable for outdoor use because their protective layer is too thin and will easily flake off. Hot-dip galvanized coatings are up to 10 times as thick and will always greatly outlast zinc electroplating in any environment.
